The area of genetics falls under the biological domain: physical elements and biological systems within our bodies that influence or are influenced by our behaviours, thoughts and feelings. The human genome: genome - complete set of genes that an organism possesses. Contains 20,000 25,000 genes on 23 pairs of chromosomes (dna), one from the mother and one from the father: most genes are the same for all humans. Between all people, the large majority of our genes are identical. Started in 1990, billion spent, and they finished it in 2003 and mapped out the human genome. Goals of behavioural genetics: determine the percentage of individual differences in a trait that can be attributed to genetic differences. Caution: finding that a personality trait has a genetic component does not mean the environment is powerless to modify the trait. Even if you should be really tall because your parents are really tall, doesn"t mean you can"t end up short: highly controversia.
