Document Summary

There are many social consequences, due to inequality of wealth in society. When there is inequality of wealth in society, there would also be inequality of power. Since the time of the bourgeoisies and the proletariats, the higher class were always dominate over the lower class. They have the opportunity to exercise power or have prestige (jourdan, lesson 12, slide 7). They were advantageous and have access to economic resources (jourdan, lesson 12, slide. However, the lower class, also known as the proletariats were controlled by the wealthy and were poor that they couldn"t afford all their needs to support their families. Like clmorena stated, the discrimination of classes can be a result of the inequality in wealth. Miller defines social stratification as hierarchical relationships between different groups as though they were arranged in layers or strata (miller, 238). Moreover, it is a system by which the society categories people, depending on power, education, wealth and prestige.
