Document Summary

When a cell wants to divide it must replicate it"s dna, when that happens there is a dna polymerase that does this and it"s error rate is about 1 in 10 million base pairs. This will amount for too many errors to accumulate. However, we have a mechanism to correct this error: cells have a genetic program - it must have the means to interpret it"s recipe and make the needed proteins. Most cells are able to move around themselves and they therefore have means of locomotion: cells interact with their environment - they respond to their stimuli and adapt which is imperative for survival. This is important because the cell needs to be able to respond to the exterior environment which is always changing. Intercellular interactions - cells can recognize one another and either interact or not: energy transduction - imperative to energy production in cells.
