Description

Math 203 Assignment #1

numbers on a naturally occurring scale.

In this graph we see that Fujian Landi made the most PINpad shipments, followed by the manufacturer,
SZZT Electronics. A Pareto diagram was made because it allows the reader to see the frequencies more
easily since it is arranged in decreasing order. Also the assignment said to make a Pareto graph. 2.42 Histogram of 2005 SAT scores Histogram of 2009 SAT scores (a)

A histogram makes the comparison of data easier when they are placed side by side. It allows us to look
at the distribution of one variable. We can look at the frequencies of the scores and compare them
between the two years. The 2005 distribution looks right-skewed. The 2009 distribution also looks
right-skewed, and it looks slightly bimodal. In comparison, the 2009 SAT scores are slightly lower than
the 2005 SAT scores, and it is slightly more variable than the 2005 scores. However the differences are
small and insignificant.

Difference in SAT Scores (c) Since there are negative frequencies in the graph of part (b), it means that the SAT scores for many
states in 2009 were lower than in 2005. SAT scores for many states were lowered from a 0-20 frequency
