Introductory lecture: the idea and history of human rights. Poli 444: topics in international politics 2 international human rights with. Lecture outline: course introduction: goals and expectations. Goal: to understand the relationship between state behavior and individual rights recognized by international law. Class meetings: 45 minutes + 5 minute break + 30 minutes for group presentations and discussions (begins a few weeks into the term) In-class quizzes via turningpoint: 2-5 multiple choice questions during the lecture, group presentations will include some multiple choice questions. Assignments: participation/in-class quizzes (20%, midterm assignment, in pairs submittable via mycourses no later than. October 4th (20%: case presentation, in groups of 2 or 3 (10%) 1 week prior to the presentation, each group member should submit 1 multiple choice question per number of students in group to professor. Answer to question should be contained in the presentation. Cases will be assigned next week: essay, due no later than december 7th (20%)
