Document Summary

Sensation is the closest we can get to having a print of the world; our perception is our interpretation of those sensations. Adjustment model you adjust and determine when you can perceive the stimulus. Limits model the experimenter adjusts and you determine when you can perceive the stimulus. Weber"s law the amount increase for the same noticeable difference is a function of intensity; difference threshold = wc * intensity. There is a logarithmic graph between jnd and change in intensity fechner"s law. People were relatively constant on when they perceived the stimulus intensity. Graphs did not match fechner"s logarithmic one always: ex. electricity makes you more attuned and sensitive with increasing intensity, therefore get an exponential graph. Unless you change the stimulus, you are not changing your sensitivity to it; changes in trials are a result of decision bias, as there is a probability of hits vs. false hits vs. misses. Psychophysics relates sensory energy (physical world) to psychological effects.
