Darwin"s contribution to the theory of evolution. Natural selection - how it could result in new species. Species can change from one into another over time, etc. Synthetic theory of evolution came in 1930"s. Gene from one population entering another population. 30 years ago ^ this was the status quote for evolution and the change that happens. How they work and how they account for modern variations, and genetic diseases, etc. , and stuff need to understand basic of cells and the biochemical process, etc. Cells are the basic units of life. We have 2 types: prokaryotic: cells of bacteria and algae, lack nuclear membranes, eukaryotic: multicellular plants, etc, have nucleus and chromosomes in them. Both carry genetic material and a set of instructions. Instructions for most living systems stored in the dna - deoxyribonucleic acid. Some life forms based on rna - ribonucleic acid. Also contributes to function of dna based life forms.
