Cmst 2g03: lecture 2 ( golden globes in journal entry ) This week"s three takeaways (jan. 9 & 12) (09/01/17: schechner"s two fundamentals of performance studies, and what is its relationship to communication & media studies, theatre & film studies, and. Not just strictly performances, moving away of performances as theatre, but moving towards sports and stuff. Not thinking of macbeth on its own, but the condition of it the budget, the set, the time period, where is it, the cultural/historical context. What"s my working definition, and redefine it as i learn more about it. It is intergenric, interdisciplinary, intercultural and therefore inherently unstable. As a discipline, ps cannot be mapped effectively because it transgresses boundaries, it goes where it is not expected to be. It is inherently in between" and therefore cannot be pinned down or located exactly. This indecision (if that"s what it is) or multidirectionality drives some people crazy.
