Refers to the way acceleration of economic activities leads to the destruction of spatial barriers and distance. It is also the increasing sense of connectivity that seems to be bring people closer together even though their distances are the same. Furthermore, it is the solution to distance decay because technology (internet,cell phone) is allowing us to communicate more across longer distances. Example: digital technologies like the internet, have allowed us to communicate virtually with anyone in the world at any time. The idea that globalization creates increased global consciousness. Local actions have global consequence, and global actions have local consequence. Example: the world cup- biggest football competition in the world, most viewers, a collective interest and experience shared by the world.
