Line btwn physical and mental is not as clear as dualists would assume. Used to be seen as able to exist separate from one another. School of thought suggesting cause of mental health problems are biological (medical model) Despite links btwn body and mind, physical state can"t necessarily give an indication of mental health. No way to reveal mental health simply through physical symptoms; one symptom may have many possible explanations. Mental health is almost entirely self-reported ---> great importance of self- perception/subjectivity. The person themselves impacts how they think about and describe mental health. Mental health can"t be objectively determined; no objective diagnosis/verified. Mental health refers to feelings, thoughts, moods, behaviours, cognition, and self- concept. Those who aren"t mentally ill must be healthy. However, someone might not meet the thresholds but has many. However, someone might not meet the thresholds but has many symptoms yet still be considered mentally healthy. The ability to get on in everyday life.
