Top of each hair cell = bundles of microvilli (referred to stereocilia) Get taller as you move from one side of the cell the another side of the cell. There"s a physical connection between each stereocilia and the cilia next to it (which is taller) These connections are called tip-links (the mechanoreceptors), its like a spring attached to the ion channel gate.
