MECHENG 2A03 Study Guide - Quiz Guide: Aluminium Alloy, Tensile Testing, Ultimate Tensile Strength
Document Summary
We recently received three different material samples for testing, from mcdermid mechanical. Designs inc, the materials were medium carbon steel (aisi 1020), aluminium alloy (aa 1100), and polymethylmethacrylate (pmma) . Tensile tests were performed on them and after recording the results the stress vs. strain curves were plotted. The properties of the three materials and the tensile test are briefly explained below. The materials used during the experiment included vernier callipers, tensile testing machine, load cell and the three testing materials aisi 1020, aa 1100 and pmma. The procedure of testing the materials can be described briefly in the following steps:: Initially, the dimensions of the materials were measured and recorded using a vernier calliper. The dimensions recorded were gauge length and gauge diameters which were the same for all three samples. The gauge length was 25 mm and gauge diameter was 5 mm.
