Measuring & improving quality is essential to ensure optimum effectiveness of care & comply with increasing regulatory requirements & to combat current trends leading to commoditization of radiology services. ; their experience during the procedures greatly influence their perception of quality; not the most analytically friendly bc it cannot be measured; how well a tech performs their responsibilities will have the greatest impact on this level. Actual: what we can measure (data); takes statistical data to measure outcomes & considers all factors that can influence the final outcome (ie turn around time, quality of image); also compares quality of product/service with competitors. Most useful in quality management programs bc it allows for data-driven decision making that can be used.
