Gesamtkunstwerk: total work of art, the highest conjoint work of art is the drama. Bring together all the elements of the arts: literature, visual elements, costumes and lighting. His music dramas provided practical and artistic solution for film composers. Der ring des nibulungen: set of four music drama. Influence both star wars and the lord of the rings. Wrote his own librettos that expressed his philosophies. Built his own theater, the festival theater at bayreuth, where he took control over his productions. Many theater trends are still used today: darkened room, larger distance, orchestra pit, not allowed to applaud. Aimed at creating the illusion that the audience was not sitting in a theater. Modern theatre established just before the beginning of film. Auteur a filmmaker whose personal influence and artistic control over a movie are so great that the filmmaker is regarded as the author of the movie.
