In my opinion, the parties in this case cannot talk to each other in order to resolve this problem. I am always hesitant to say that"s there"s absolutely no way to talk a problem out when referring to issues and conflicts such as this one, however, this is not the type of conflict that requires compromise. Plainly and simply, the issues between these two groups arose because one group does not respect the rights of the other. Lee was a general in the confederate army during the american civil war which ran from 1861 to 1865. The confederate army was in favour of slavery and the statue of general lee is seen by many as a figure of white supremacy. The alt-right, as evident by their racist chants during the protests, feel that because they are white, they are somehow superior to everyone who is not white.
