Well-made play is a dramatic formula that relies on predictable patterns that constructs relatable situations. This formula can be placed of different dramatic situations. He wants to please the rising merchant class who are coming to the theatres. There is money to be made in offering a show that distracts people from their concerns but also reflects them. His plays were devoid of any social argument.
