Document Summary

Strong psychological evidence for two distinct ways of thinking about ability (implicit theories) and the impact of this on our behaviour (regardless of age): Growth mindset: belief that ability is malleable and can be improved through learning (incremental theory) Fixed mindset: belief that ability is innate and cannot be changed (entity theory) Persists how you get to mastery: knows to put in effort. Encouraged by the success of others: work hard to perform at an equal level. The desire to look successful prevents one from engaging in activities that could help one become successful. Effort + strategies + help from others = brain growth. Mindsets can be changed (it is just a belief) so resilience can be improved/developed. Try to keep a growth mindset towards the course. The brain is constantly changing therefore, grow mindset can be achieved by anyone. People with growth mindset are: more resilient, take on more challenges, more optimistic, better achiever.
