George bataille and lascaux paintings: boys discovered a cave lascaux with paintings from thousand of years ago, the painting featured animals. They were not proportionate but were depicted based on the value. For example an animal"s stomach may have been enlarged, showing that their meat was valued by the people. The human in the painting is presumably dead. The painting features a rhino and bison that towers over the human. Bataille argues that religion and/or magical intentions were thought of in the cre- ation of the painting. The picture of the animal is meant to display their impor- tance. The animal is painted very realistically to help the people in the cave imagine its really there. The painting could be seen as a piece of magic that symbolizes a fu- ture hunt of a bison. For bataille the painting is really about human life and animal life as well as hu- man death a animal death.
