Document Summary

Social environments plays a huge role in how we develop. We learn by observing those around us and imitating what they do. The people we observe and imitate are called role models, and they teach us how to act appropriately. Our parents or caregivers dominate our social world and how we interact with it comes mostly from them. At adolescence, the range of our role models expand, and the spheres of influence change. Proposed by hoffman to be the most responsible style of learning for empathetic moral development. Inductive discipline involves teaching the child about the consequences of its actions in front of it. This encourages the development of empathy and guilt to increase levels of prosocial behavior earlier. Inflexible, and usually resort to punishment or threats: less responsive to the children"s needs and discipline through physical means, children tend to become unhappy and lack social confidence. They also might develop anxiety and higher levels of aggression.
