Motivation and emotion: motivation: group of phenomena that affect the nature, strength and persistence of individual"s behaviour, desires, needs and interests that arouse and activate an organism to move towards a specific goal. Autonomic heart rate, dilation of arteries, rate of respiration. Emotional response occurs after the autonomic nervous system: james-lange theory response. Increasing ans activity by drugs doesn"t always cause emotion. Each emotion has its own pattern of ans arousal. Still experience emotion even if peripheral nerves are cut: cannon-bard theory. Physiological changes occur too slow to trigger emotional response. Not aware of all physiological reactions in body: schachter"s two factor theory.
