Biology sept 8, 2016 the scientific study of life. Mycelium (made up of branching hyphae) spread for meters from the fungus, bringing in nutrients. Mycorrhizae: symbiotic relationship where fungus provides a host plant with lots of nutrients, plant provides carbohydrates. Commercial value: bread, alcohol, penicillin & other drugs. Protists: eukaryotes that don"t fit into plant, animal, or fungi descriptions. Parasites that can"t reproduce without a host organism. Not made of cells (protein coat & dna; no membrane, no organelles) Observation hypothesis experimentation analysis of data. 2 key features: idea/hypothesis that is based on observations and testable, can be replicated by others and verified. Deductive reasoning: testing a hypothesis, deducing from results. Can have multiple hypotheses for one experiment (if i give the kid sugar, then the kid. If and then statements (if i give the kid sugar, then the kid will be hyper) will be happy) Long term studies are often important for full results (crop rotations & crop produce)
