When assigning prioriies, the higher priority group gets the lower number. To assign prioriies, the highest atomic number resembles the highest priority group, therefore, the lowest number. If subsituents are the same, look down the chain for diferences. Compare where the atoms are not the same, and base the priority on this diference.
