In many cases involving ethical dilemmas, there is no choice that will satisfy everyone: the task for ethical reasoning is to make the choice that is supported by the best reasons. Decisions are not always ideal ethics is not exact science, the decision you make might not satisfy everyone, but the task is to make the result that is supported by the best reasoning. As a cop you there are ethical issues that are unique to professional settings must act as to everyone else, but there is a clash on personal obligations so maybe let your partner work this out without you.
