Document Summary

A fancy weave or woven weave, is made by changing the interlacing patterns between the design and background area by special looms or attachments. It is influenced by the density of the pile. The fibre content, the v or w cut pile. The ground weave should be compact to increase the resistance of a loop pile to snagging and of a cut pile to shredding: describe 3 types of pile weaves and the fabrics they produce. Two fabrics are woven together at the same time and then cut. The yarn that which held the two layers together now form the pile effect. Every few yarns, a wire is inserted instead of a weft yarn. This pulls the warp yarn and because the wire is sharp, it cuts off the warp yarn creating the pile. Selected warp yarns are controlled by a device which allow them to have slack tension at various times.
