Renaissance coined in 19th century, by french historian jules. Michelet, this cultural movement entered on humanism in contrast to mediaeval society and arts. God was the centre of society before renaissance but after, man became the centre of universe. People were involved in social activity, not necessarily religious. Taxes were paid to the lord and church. Rise of the bourgeoisie: tradesmen and merchants became the most in uential social class, they did not possess nobility titles but had monetary power. Bourgeoisie became the most relevant part of society. They were artists, construction workers etc. generally people who built things. These people did not have nobility titles but that could"ve been bought with money; they married into important families in europe.
