One main goal of the progressive movement was purification of government, as progressives tried to eliminate corruption. Ans:primary source are documents that presents a person s firsthand account of a past event. A secondary source is an interpretation or analysis of a primary source. The article the general motherhood of the commonwealth was a secondary source. Ans:they believed it wasted workers time and money, encourage drinking, vice and crime. But perhaps, a deeper meaning was that the elitists wanted order and control and they saw these places of liberation and freedom and where ideas can be sprouted. In other words, it was contradictory to the elitists views. On one of the notes it says elite and popular cultures have often clashed.
