Description
Name: Aaina Jaiswal Student Number: 500508476 Cloud computing refers to the accessibility of computing resources like data storage. It could be a good idea for the company to choose cloud computing but it can also effect the company in a bad way because according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, "security and data privacy concerns are the two critical barriers to adopting cloud computing." According to NIST, some of the common characteristics are: "homogeneity, virtualization, low cost software, service orientation, advanced security, massive scale, resilient computing, and geographic distribution," and some of the essential characteristics include: " broad network access, rapid elasticity, resource pooling, measured service. Some of the benefits of cloud computing would be flexibility, cost, scalability, and reduced technical burdens. It is flexible because it allows for a quick access for additional computing power without the need for any kind of backups, like purchase of a new hardware, software or services. For large companies it can be difficult to store large amount data with the help of any other backup but it is possible that these backups can have more cost and complexity than cloud computing. Cloud computing is cost effective and provide companies with an overall low cost. Cloud computing is useful in a way because it can provide with whatever resources a company needs, which in this case is the problem of data storage. It also reduces technical burdens such as: electrical requirements, hardware specifications, switch-port availability, software patching, and staff training. It provides companies with the computing resources within hours, days and weeks. It enables companies to only pay for the IT capacity they use and helps generate their revenue. Cloud computing has an ability to reduce the exposure of private data from any external cloud. Lastly, cloud computing very efficient because it can used from anywhere to everywhere, one doesn't have to a laptop because it can be accessed simply from a mobile device. The cloud infrastructure can be operated for a single company, could be shared by several companies, can be made available to large group or it can be a compos
