Document Summary

There are a number of factors that lead the united states to adopt the expansionist strategy regarding ethanol in the first place. When examining reasoning for expansion there are usually internal factors and external factors. Most of the factors associated with this expansion come from external factors. The primary reason for expansion came from a need. There was a need to alternative sources of fuel and renewable energy, ethanol was supposed to be the solution to that need. Expansion was the result of depleted reserves of crude oil and raising fuel costs. A long term goal was the future objective of expansion strategy, that goal was to find a sustainable energy source to power machines. Along with that internal factor of need, the external factors includes rising gas prices, depletion of crude oil, economic trends of cleaner environment and reduced resources.
