Structuralism: aim: identify the most fundamental elements of psychological experience, asking what are you thinking using introspection. Asking to think of a dog, everyone will think of different content. Functionalism: aim: understand the adaptive purposes of psychological characteristics, they are asking why are you thinking that. Behaviorism: aim: uncovering the general laws of learning by focusing on external observable elements, asking why you are doing the things you are doing.
