Sociology is the study of human society and interaction. Common sense is what people rely on to function in daily life. Society is considered a social group, geographical territory, group under the same authority. Auguste comte believed in positivism coined sociology". Harriet marineau was an active sociologist that studied social customs and consequences of industrialism and capitalism. Emile durkheim believed that people are products of social environments and that society is made of social facts. Anomie: social control becomes ineffective as a result of the loss of shared values. Karl marx believed that conflict was necessary to exploit the bourgeoisie"s control and exploitation on the proletariats (struggling workers) that causes alienation. Troubles: private matter that occurs within one person. Issues: public matter that occurs in many people of a societal group. Sociological imagination: the ability to grasp world history and ones own biography and make sense of the relationship between both.
