Emile durkheim believed that people are products of social environments and that society is made of social facts. Anomie: social control becomes ineffective as a result of the loss of shared values. Karl marx believed that conflict was necessary to exploit the bourgeoisie"s control and exploitation on the proletariats (struggling workers) that causes alienation. Troubles: private matter that occurs within one person. Issues: public matter that occurs in many people of a societal group. Sociological imagination: the ability to grasp world history and ones own biography and make sense of the relationship between both.
