Purpose of Research:
- Process of systematically gaining info
- Increasingly important as governing agencies demand evidence that programs & practices are
effective
- Evidenced-based practice is practices whose efficacy is supported by evidence (research/

- Accumulation of knowledge that allows use to practice effectively and transparently
Ways of Knowing:
- Knowledge is gained through: personal experiences

Qualitative Research:
- Used when little of nothing is known about a subject
