Cogs midterm idea organizaion: descartes to helmholtz (mind and body, dualism, mind and body is separate, discovery of the relex, mechanism, the idea that whatever acion one does, it is done without any reference to the mind. Like the relex, some things are done automaically without you thinking about doing it. You aren"t going to think that in a few seconds, you are going to blink: the mechanism theory states that things are done by movement and by one force pushing or pulling on another object. You don"t just do things out of nowhere. Your acions are made by some kind of contact. However, even in the mechanical explanaion, there is no reference to the mind at all and only based on movement from some kind of force: anatomy of psychological explanaion, some things can"t just be explained by mechanisic theories. The reason is due to compeiion in the environment.
