Memetic evolution is clearly orders of magnitude faster than genetic evolution since, for example, ideas change within a lifetime of an individual. The logistic map provides an example of a system that bifurcates into chaos in a relatively well-understood way. Xn+1 = kxn(1-xn) creates a remarkably simple system on the surface. For values 0>k<3. 0, when graphed in a cartesian plane, the system produces a straight line. Even for k values ranging from 3. 0 to approximately 3. 6, the output appears simple in that it is cyclical. But for higher values, the results become very complex and apparently random. As k moves from k> 0 to k<4, the system includes more and more solutionsthe behavior becomes complex.
