Survey: a data collection method and applies a standard of instrument in a systematic way to take measures from a larger number of units. Three basic ways of administrating questionnaires: self-administration, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews. Two different applications are distinguished: target population, sampling methods. Guidelines for asking questions: open-ended and closed-ended questions. Closed-ended: which the respondent is asked to select to answer from among a list provided by the researcher: questions and statement, make items clear, short items are best, avoid negative items, lookout for biased items and terms. 3 modes of administration: self-administrating, in-person interview, telephone interview. Interview survey: using a questionnaire in a systematic way to interview a large number of people. General rules for interviewing: appearance and demeanor, familiarity with the questionnaire, probing for responses. Qualitative interview: a verbal interaction between an interviewer and a participant that follows a general plan of inquiry, but not necessarily a specific set of questions.
