Genre means the type (or category) of a work. Text is a common catch-all word that can refer to all types of genre: drama, poetry, short stories, the novel, etc. The phrase the text is used to refer to a particular work as a whole. In a linear plot structure they follow a chronological order & are based on cause & effect. In a non-linear plot structure, events seem to be random and things jump about. Conflict = the existence, within the plot, of contrasting desires, behaviors, ideas, or wills. 3. can tell us more about the fictional societies, their morals or taboos. Person against self a character"s particular quality is commonly called a character trait. details the setting: time and place of story or psychological settings = exist inside of a character"s mind. Diction = the choices of words or vocabulary of characters. Dialect = particular way of saying sth (slang and local speech)
