Alkynes the characteristic peaks are the alkynyl c-h stretching frequency at 3300 cm-1 is usually very easy to spot and the alkynyl c-c stretching frequency which is at about 2200 cm-1 and also easy to spot. H hydrogen bonded (concentrated): 3200-3500 cm-1 (broad) not hyrogen bonded (dilute): 3690-3650 cm-1(sharp) the cyclopentanol spectrum displays the usual broad strong peak of a concentrated sample. 1000-1300 cm-1 but these can be hard to find amide carbonyls occur a little lower than carboxylic acids or esters they are also characterized by the n-h frequencies about 3400 cm-1 (like amines)
