Europeans thought they bought the land, fn thought it would be something that would be done every year. Distortions were present at the point of creation- non indigenous people created" the history as they wrote it down. Some of it is accurate and some is not. Many elements of the history of first nations people reflect a non-first nations perspective so it distorts the lived experiences of first nations. Much of the information is viewed from a specific perspective. Interpretations are given according to present values and social history- it is easy judge when you weren"t in a specific time period. Emphasis on individuals and their acts as units of analysis. Idea that social processes and events should be explained this way. Breaking things down into individual parts to understand it. By looking at things as individuals you lose sight of the whole picture.
