Research goes to wherever the participant are. Qualitative studies most often help researchers begin to formulate an understanding of a phenomenon. Qualitative research is discovery oriented explanatory, descriptive in nature. Uses text for data, narrative or words written from interviewers. Qualitative researchers believe that reality is socially constructed and context dependent that is, the meaning of an observation is defined by its circumstance or the environment. Qualitative researchers believe that the discovery of meaning is the basis for knowledge. The most important consideration for any research study, however is whether the methology fits the question.
