Dilates (gets bigger because theres no light, and you have to see better) and constricts (sharp image, not letting as much light, gets smaller) Iris is the colourful part, behind it has muscles that control the aperture of the pupil. Behind the pupil, and focuses light into the retina. At rest, it looks like a cylinder. When you focus close or far, you are adjusting the tension in the eye to change the shape. (ciliary muscles)
