Some domesicated species become so highly dependent to the demands of human beings that they can no longer survive without human assistance. Old deiniion: the appearance of ground stone- as opposed to chipped stone- tools. New deiniion: the period ater 12 000 years ago. A group of people living in one place for an extended period of ime. A term that encompasses features that emerge from a group of people that can only be produced by muliple people. Includes: social straiicaion, labour and crat specializaion, food surplus used to support the elite, monumental construcion, record keeping. Class socieies, oten rigidly straiied into social levels. The ruling class controls the populaion by coercion and force, not by consensus. Emerges through the need to organize or disperse conlict in a society. Has to have an overarching power to overcome internal conlicts.
