Political scientists agree that they study politics, but do not agree on the definition. Political science consists of multiple ways of viewing and analyzing the world. Politics has no common definition, no common view. Even though there is no common definition of politics there is some common understanding of what politics is about. Multiple definitions, but the for the most part are either implicitly or explicitly state something about power. Political scientists study power, or the struggles for power. Power is ubiquitous: power is located in multiple places at the same time, lennin said everything is political. Power is not contained in terms of its operation in each location: power is interactive. Power is about making things happen: consequences, things do(cid:374)(cid:859)t u(cid:374)less the(cid:396)e is a (cid:272)atal(cid:455)st. Different types of power instruments: hard power instruments, soft power instruments. Ideals: to become more like you, values and successes, to assert yourself, because the people aspire to achieve the same goals.
