Ex: seeing a band live, you record them in your brain (encoding), then at later times seeing photos of the band you get feelings you experienced at the concert rushing back. Parallel distributed model: web of memories similar to how neurons form networks in our brain: ex. Transferring sensory memory to working memory: rehearsal: conscious repetition of information in an attempt to make sure the information is encoded. All three types of coding can be used simultaneously, however some may be more active than others in certain instances, but when all used together it increase the likelihood and strength of the memory! Mnemonic devices: techniques used to enhance the meaningfulness of information as a way of making them more memorable. Shayla was having a hard time remembering the muscles of the arm, so to help she used a mnemonic device giving it more meaning (helping to encode the information into long term memory).
