Document Summary
Poilkilotherm- produce very little heat body temp varies with environment temperature. Life span and cycling depends on climate, temperature, and sunlight. Fish less demands for energy because they have not been domesticated as long as other animals and have a slow growth rate. So lower energy needs over a longer period of time. Circulatory system- open system: arteries but no viens but sinuses hemolyph (blood): hemocyanin or hemoglobin. Excretory system- tubular organ located in ventral part of head antennal (green gland) or maxillar glands. Life cycle- epimorphic (juvenile) or anamorphic (several stages) Crustacea stomachs have grinding mill and intestine is a bunch of dead end tubules. Fish do not appear to have finite size like mammals and birds. Fish can survive starvation for extended periods of time and lose very significant amount of weight and remain able to resume their growth, without ill-effect, when conditions become more favorable again.
