Document Summary

The reason i am writing to you today is that i wanted to share with you what i have been learning in my economics class. We are reading a book called cocktail party economics and to my surprise, it has really grasped my attention. The book interprets the often-confusing ideas of economics in a way that is easy for the average person to understand. Some of the ideas that i have been drawn to specifically are scarcity, comparative and absolute advantage, and monopolies. You may have heard of these terms before, as did i, but they bear a different meaning and significance in the world of economics. To make things even easier for you i will try to relate these ideas to our favourite sport, hockey. The concept of scarcity boils down to the fact that there is a limited amount of resources to satisfy people"s unlimited wants.
