Document Summary
Week 1 - the watcher by guy vanderhaeghe. Charlie is dropped off at his grandmother"s for summer, nothing to do there, grandma is strict. Evelyn (grandma"s other daughter) shows up with thomson: evelyn has anxiety, and she wants to get married to thomson, thompson forces his way to live with the grandmother they don"t like each other. Thompson"s a grad student, and practices buddhism he thinks he"s above everyone else. Eve feels she needs both grandma and thompson. Charlie sees thomson abuse eve in the field. Charlie keeps stirring the pot with grandma and thomson, again gives him a sense of control. Thomson has sex with eve loudly, charlie watches, grandma hears it and brings it up at breakfast. Grandma wants eve to herself so she can fix her, but thompson stubbornly won"t leave. Charlie kills the rooster stanley first sign of power in the story, made it look like a skunk killed him.
