Glaciation, volcanic, floods occur over long periods of time but seem to have increased recently that causes change. Ways humans have accelerated change include: oil spills, deforestation, smog, fukushima radiation leakage (radioactive contamination in pacific ocean), overfishing, deepwater horizon (bp oil spill) Economic and social structures can impact the environment by degrading and depleting natural resources, which effects ecological functions. Tourism is an economic activity that relies on the environment. How humans have impacted the environment through tourism: Ruin environmental resource on which the tourism was based on, examples: beach party garbage affecting host populations (societal and environmental impacts, cruise ship (water pollution and air pollution, air travel (source of pollution, mt. Feeding patterns, breeding patterns becoming used to people). Tourism is associated with depletion and diversion of key resources of host destinations to tourist need. In hot dry climates, there is a high demand for water for tourists diverting the resource from local population.
