Earths structure is made up of many parts: temperature and pressure increase with depth o lithosphere cool, rigid and brittle o asthenosphere hot, weak, plastic o mesosphere hot, stronger (due to high pressure) o mantle o outer core liquid o. Types of magma: 2 main types mathic (low in silica, not explosive) and felsic (high in silica and explosive, magma is molten rock, lava is magma on the earths surface, magma is described by the silica content and amount of dissolved gasses. Volcanic features include: craters depressions formed by an explosion or the collapse of the top of the volcano, calderas large craters caused from an explosion, vents opening for lava and debris, hot springs hot rocks that heat groundwater and the surface, geysers groundwater boils and erupts as steam, resurgent calderas and super eruptions very large and violent eruptions from super volcanoes (they are rare)
