Was it the same kind of science as watson and crick newton or galileo. If we can"t define science how can we study its history. Even standard terms like atom gene and species have changed over time. So have scientific movements like newtonianism or darwinism. Society determines what science is at any given time and place. Science is a human enterprise the people who do it are always part of the surrounding society. What we mean by science or doing science is contingent on the time place we"re talking about. Science is done by human beings, some are great people some are bad. Science is conditioned to the time and place that science is taken up in a society. Science as the search for what"s real. How do you know if it"s real if you can observe it. Finding something that already existed but no one had found before. Early accounts of science presented as voyages of discovery.
