The eniac: the invention that birthed the information age. The completion of the eniac in 1946 brought with it the dawn of the digital era for mankind. Programmable general-purpose electronic computer , eniac was originally designed to calculate fire tables for the u. s. military following the second world war which would prove useful for calculating artillery trajectory as well as assist the development of the hydrogen bomb.
