Some used rock and roll to describe music of late 1950s , or use to describe music after 1964. Rock history in the media: magazines such as rolling stone and mojo provide readers with useful info. Cable networks such as vh1 and mtv offer profiles of artists. Info found in pop culture/media more so for entertainment, with purpose of generating revenue, deliver what people want to believe. Fans, listen to music of particular artist, groups, ignoring those that do not interest them. Charts help draw conclusions about popularity of a song, how songs did on charts in terms of rhythm/blues charts, help avoid fan mentality (keep us honest)
